Can the existing kerb be retained?
Sometimes a new lantern can be manufactured to suit the existing upstand, but the kerb, surrounding roof covering and supporting structure must be sound. A survey is the safest way to confirm what can remain.
Common reasons for replacement
Customers often contact us about failed sealed units, persistent leaks, excessive heat loss, tired internal finishes or bulky older frames. The cause should be diagnosed before deciding whether the lantern alone should be replaced.
Made-to-measure replacement
A replacement is quoted from verified site dimensions and the required internal and external finish. Flashings, roof repairs and making good are assessed separately because existing installations vary considerably.

Frequently asked questions
Can only the glass in an old lantern be replaced?
Sometimes failed sealed units can be replaced, but the make, age, frame condition and availability of suitable glass must be checked. If the frame, seals or roof details are failing, complete lantern replacement may be more sensible.
Will a replacement lantern fit the same opening?
A made-to-measure lantern can often be designed for a verified existing kerb. Never order from the old frame's visible size because overlaps and fixing details differ between systems.
Can you repair the surrounding flat roof?
Local installation quotations can consider associated roof work, but scope depends on the existing covering and structure. If deterioration is extensive, a complete roof replacement may be recommended.
