Flat rooflights made for daylight

A flat glass rooflight brings natural light into rooms where conventional windows may be limited. The simple glazed finish works particularly well above kitchen extensions, hallways, bathrooms and open-plan living areas.

TuffX flat glass rooflights

Our flat rooflights are manufactured by TuffX, a specialist roof-glass manufacturer that also supplies glass used within Sheerline roof lanterns. Product specification, glass make-up and dimensions are confirmed for each quotation.

Kerb and size information

Flat rooflights are normally installed onto a correctly prepared upstand or kerb. The dimensions used for ordering must match the manufacturer's measuring method. Do not order from an assumed structural opening: contact us with the kerb details and photographs first.

Supply and installation

We offer nationwide supply only. Survey and installation are available for suitable projects around Bristol, including careful replacement of existing flat roof windows.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

What is a flat glass rooflight?

It is a fixed glazed roof window designed for a flat or low-pitched roof, normally fitted onto a prepared kerb or upstand. Internally it can create a clean opening with an uninterrupted view of the sky.

Can a flat rooflight be installed completely level?

The supporting kerb and rooflight must follow the manufacturer's minimum pitch and drainage requirements. A unit that appears flat is normally installed with sufficient fall to manage rainwater.

Should the inner pane of a rooflight be laminated?

Safety requirements depend on the product and location. Laminated inner glass is often specified so fragments remain held together if breakage occurs. We confirm the current manufacturer specification for the selected rooflight.

How is a flat rooflight measured?

The ordering size may relate to the external kerb, structural opening or glass size depending on the product. Never assume the measuring convention: provide the existing kerb details and confirm the manufacturer's required dimension.
